SAT's. Stupid Ass Test. Hah. Just wonderful. Nah...I'm just joking. :] Ok. So like there's a test that all high school students have to take if they want to get into college. It's called the SAT. And basically your life depends on this because the scores that you get on the SAT determines which college you are eligible to attend or whatnot, which then determines what jobs you will be able to get and blah blah. Sound fun? Well obviously not. Almost everyone hates these things. Despise is imputed to the SAT's (I'm not sure this is used correctly).
I know I'm not really looking forward to taking the SAT's. But, after thinking about it, I understand it. I understand why we would need to take this and why its pretty much required. I get why some horrible ( but I'm sure he's not) person invented this. If you really wanted to go to college and get into a good one then you would study and get prepared for the SAT. If you knew where you were going in life and the only way to get there is through the SAT then you would do everything you can to do good. It shows who really wants it, who has the heart to go through with it and feel alright about it. Even contumacious people would have to crack down and focus if they wanted something in life (?). Although I don't look forward to it, I still do get it and know why I have to try. I'm not quite sure what I want to do with my life but I know that wherever the road may lead, first I must get through the SAT first. And, I'm alright with that. I kind of know that how I do on the SAT will determine which door my future lies behind.
On other notes, I'm starting to get a picture of how the ideal 6 essay should be like. It should be original, have an in-depth example and things surrounding it, it should have its own voice, it should have a direct side to the question but not entirely, and other things. It should stand out. But, the only way for that to happen is if everyone else's is moderate. But, if everyone know what to do to get a 6 and they do it, then how would your paper stand out?

SAT Practice Essay
This is a practice essay for the SAT's.
The other day I was looking through a copy of the Seventeen magazine. More than half of it was filled with advertisements for clothes and make-up and what was currently "hot". Many teenagers, or people, read this magazine and they actually listen to what it tells you. The media does affect what is important to people and their lives. The people who read these magazines see that the majority of the pages hold ads of jewelry and clothes. They see that since the magazine holds such importance on these subjects then they should too.
In the news, a couple of years ago they had multiple stories of shark attacks and high statistics for that year. People started to believe that particular year was extremely high in shark attacks and they should be cautious in deciding whether to visit the beaches of not. But, in reality, that year had about the same amount of shark attacks as the past years. The news stations and media just wanted a story to interest people, and it worked.
People want to be up-to-date with the world around them. They want to know what's going on. They keep in touch with what's happening through the media. They believe what the newspapers and magazines and movies tell them, because that's one of the easiest ways to obtain information.
But, of course, it really is up to you if you want to allow the media to affect your life and ways of thinking, or so you think. You can fall into media's trap or decide to go against it, either way it will somehow have an affect on you. It will still decide what is important in your life whether you believe them or not. If what you believe and what you don't believe is based on what the media portrays to you then it will always have an affect on you. Everything will.

The End of the Beginning of 2nd Semester
The second semester of sophomore english has been a new experience for me. For our commonplace project, we are using blogs instead of books. I find myself wishing sometimes that we could have books instead of blogs. Blogs prevent me from writing more personal things. Maybe it's just me, or maybe others agree. But this blog this isn't half bad either. I guess it's good for allowing it to be easier to check assignments and connecting to our classmates. Blogs are good for group and individual assignments, but for our commonplace articles and such, I would've appreciated a book instead of this. Just so it can be more personal and I wouldn't be holding things back. I don't know about others, but I'm not too comfortable with sharing myself and my life with the whole world to see.
On other thoughts, I really don't know if I'm supposed to talk about what I've learned about my personal essential questions or the two sophomore essential questions. Because personally, I don't have any of my own essential questions. So, I'll just write about what I have discovered so far for the two sophomore essential questions. These two questions are "What kind of world is this?" and "How should we live in it?"
I don't know about you, but I think these questions are extremely hard to answer in just a tiny blog, but of course I don't have an answer quite yet so I don't have as much to worry about. What kind of world is this? It's whatever world we make it. This is a world in which there will always be poverty, suffering, war, pain, sadness, sorrow, deaths that could have been prevented, etc. There will always be poor people, rich people, people who have everything, people who have nothing, people who can give but don't, people who can't give but want to, people who need, people who want, all kinds of people. The point is that there will never be a "perfect" world. It's how you live in it that counts. It's the outlook on this world and what you want from it and what you're going to do with it that matters. So, what kind of world is this? It's up to you to decide.
Next question. How should we live in it? Well, I don't know. I'll have to get back to this later.
Have a nice day please.

Freshmen Tree
So, this is a description of the freshmen tree. Since we are starting to read The Poisonwood Bible, this is an attempt to describe something like how the forest is described in the first chapter.
Look at that castle of a tree. Surrounding it is a cement wall, splattered with bird poop and smeared with spilled lunches. Within the wall, bordering the castle, is a moat. The moat is swarming with ugly, disgusting roaches and other insect inhabitants. It is overgrown with ferns and winding weeds. Trashy infestations litter the whole area. Lost things will never be found in the dirt filled moat.
Moss crawling up the castle walls, creating a new kind of paint. Great arms reach across the sky, the castle's multiple towers. They are flowered with green toppers. Towers hold its people who chirp about loudly, fluttering about with their own business. Up high and down below seem to have no connection other than the tower that holds everything together.
Blah. I doubt this is anything like what's in the book but, oh well.

Smile Please :D
Ok. So I've changed my mind about what to have my this I believe about. I've changed it to smiling. I'm still working on ideas but I suppose since we need to have a final draft by tomorrow then I should get something out. So, I'll try.
We share this world with billions of other people. Many, of whom, are strangers to me. These people seem to have no connection with me or my life. But, there is one thing we will always have in common. It is one of the easiest and greatest things that people all over the world can share with each other, and that is a smile.
I believe that a smile can do many things. From saying "hello" to expressing "I love you", it goes a long way. It really amazes me how something so little and so easy can have such a great affect. A smile could be the difference in some one's day. It could restore hope or give someone pure happiness. There are infinite possibilities that can be reached just by curving your lips up and showing that you care. This I believe.
Once you start to share a smile, it doesn't stop, it keeps on going. The other day, I experienced the power of a smile. The day started off bad and wasn't getting any better. But, when I saw one of my good friends who I haven't seen in a while, I began to smile. She then said something that made my smile even wider. The important thing wasn't what she said to make me smile, it was what she said after I smiled. She said, "what a big smile. That's what I like to see!" Smile's don't just make you feel good, it also makes people around you feel good about themselves, especially if you share it with them. You may feel great when you smile, but its even greater when you give it to others.
When I see a smile, I see someone who cares. Someone who believes in good times, and that everyone is part of this world. I see happiness and joy. I see love. I see family and friends. I see indulgence. It is incredible how there is so much meaning and depth to such a simple thing. This I believe. I believe that little things go a long way. I believe in showing that you care. I believe in happiness. I believe in smiles.

This I Believe?
Right now all I've got for my this I believe is:
~Everyone needs someone who they can tell anything and everything to
~Friends are essential to life
~You will always need bad times to have the good times (I don't know, not one of the stronger ones)
I think I'm going to go for the first one because that one's not as vague as the others and I actually have some things going for it. But other ideas connecting to it are always welcome. :D
Imagine living you life secluded and by yourself. Telling your secrets to no one. Having no one there to trust. Being comfortable with no one to talk about life, and about everything. That would suck.
I can't really imagine that. I have a friend where we share all of our secrets with each other. We have this one thing in common and that thing brings us really close. This thing brought us so close that there aren't even things to explain it with.
Ok. After starting this zero/1st draft I saw that this goes a little too personal. So...I don't really know what I am going to do now.
